EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) is a system in diesel engines which recycles exhaust gases to lower the temperature of the combustion process and reduce noxious emissions.
This process, when functioning properly, reduces pollutants and can increase fuel efficiency in internal combustion engines. However, when it malfunctions, the EGR valve may become stuck in the open position or otherwise misconfigured.
